Cordoba is a city just a short train ride Seville in the Spanish region of Andalusia.

The charming white washed houses were covered in pink and purple flowers when I went here in May. It was like walking into a floral dream.

Cordoba is full of history as well, featuring a Mezquita dating from the 700s AD!

How to get there

We arrived by train from Seville, using this website: https://www.omio.com/trains/seville/cordova

It cost about 20$ each round trip and took about 45 minutes.

What to do

Visit the historic, beautiful Mezquita that is a ‘cathedral- mosque’. It is commonly regarded as one of the most accomplished monuments of Moorish architecture.

Tickets are 11 euro each for admission. We also bought audio guides for the day which I believe were about 5 euro. Two hours here is a good amount of time to learn the history and soak up the architecture.

Next, stroll the streets of Cordoba and admire all the colorful potted flowers along the white washed walls! Historically, the flowers and water features were placed in these patios to keep the houses cool.

In May, they have their annual flower patio festival where people in town compete for the most beautiful patio. Most of the patios are free to enter but some do have a small fee to enter, or you can take a tour to a few different patios!

Just walking and wondering around Cordoba is the best thing to do while you’re here; it is a beautiful place.

See this link for an interactive map of the floral patios: http://patios.cordoba.es/en/patios

Stop to get a gelato to cool off from the Spanish heat. 😉

Take a picture with the Roman Bridge of Cordoba. It dates originally from the first century BC.

And admire the beautiful architecture of Cordoba.

And that concludes the perfect day trip from Seville to the unique Spanish city of Cordoba.
